What To Expect

Overview

  • On this particular tour, we will focus on the Rattlesnake & Owl Slot Canyon. This is an off the beaten path trail, lesser known gorge, with a slightly more strenuous hike - which leads to a more private experience than other Slot tours in the area. The canyons are known for their distinctive, undulating walls and their rich, varied colors. It is a popular destination for hikers and photographers, who come to explore its winding corridors and capture its beauty on camera.
  • As you make your way through the canyon, you'll be surrounded by towering red rock cliffs and winding sandstone canyons. Keep an eye out for native plants such as yucca, cactus, and sagebrush, as well as a variety of animals including lizards, snakes, and birds of prey.
  • As you explore the canyon, your guide will provide you with fascinating information about the history and geology of the area. You'll learn about the ancient Native American cultures that once inhabited the canyon, as well as the geologic processes that shaped it over millions of years.
  • This walking tour is suitable for all fitness levels, and we'll take frequent breaks to catch your breath and hydrate. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and sun protection!
  • Overall, this walking tour offers the perfect blend of adventure, natural beauty, and history, making it an unforgettable experience for anyone who loves the outdoors.

I really enjoyed the guided tour of the Rattlesnake and Owl canyons. The beauty of these canyons is almost more than can be imagined. Lori, our guide was super friendly and shared a lot of information about the canyons and the Navajo nation.

Michael, our guide, was very great and helpful. He explained history, simple geology with demonstration to us and he also was photographer. We spent plenty of time at the canyon without any rush. I was very impressive.
